Black & Gold pairs a satin black base with a hand-finished splash of metallic gold – no two pens are ever quite the same.

It’s a finish inspired by the spontaneity of Tom’s early designs, when every experiment in the workshop became a new idea worth sharing. Each is crafted in small, limited edition batches, designed to be treasured for years, and a quiet reminder that even the most refined tools begin life with a little creative chaos.

Please note: We recommend you flush your fountain pen thoroughly before use. This will remove any oils from the nib which are present during manufacture, and will impede ink flow. 

What ink can I use?
The Pocket Fountain Pen comes with one of our nifty refillable ink cartridges, pre-filled with our Deep Black Fountain Pen Ink as standard. Want to get cracking with a different ink colour right away? You can find empty refillable cartridges here.

The Pocket Fountain Pen works beautifully with all fountain pen inks. Be sure not to use calligraphy specific ink as this can clog the pen.

How do I change the nib?
The nib units all unscrew from the pen. With the nib pointing towards you, remove the ink cartridge then simply pinch the nib and the feed (the black part under the nib) and twist anti-(counter) clockwise.

The story

A little creative chaos

Each piece carries a hand-applied gold splash that calls back to the early days in the workshop, when Tom first hand-splattered a few Studio Fountain Pens (because, why not!). They sold out instantly and became a bit of a studio legend. Every pen is a little different, made in small batches and designed to last a lifetime.
