A great holder that fits extremely well in the hand and is perfectly balanced.
The whole experience of shopping through Tom’s studio is one that is second to none
Absolutely beautiful pen. Feels good to hold, beautifully packaged. Excellent to use. Highly recommend. Will certainly purchase another in the near future
This pen does everything it promises. Easy to fill, easy to change the tip, absolutely love it .
the pen is incredibly engenious and so satisfying to use. The grip is perfect and the materials are of excellent quality. I recommend !
I’m an absolute beginner at calligraphy. Tom’s Studio has supplied me with many goodies over the past few months and these have been an enormous help in getting started on the journey. The pleasant and professional team at Tom’s have been unfailingly polite and helpful with all my queries. The range of products is carefully curated, all are exquisite, well designed and beautifully engineered. After a bit of a learning curve, the oblique pens in particular have been an enormous help to me in making progress with calligraphy (though I still have a very long way to go!). And this stunning pen rest is the perfect accessory for them. I am now officially addicted to shopping at Tom’s Studio.
Best Oblique Calligraphy pen I have owned.
Such a joy to write with and the craftsmanship is Amazing.
I LOVE this pen. It feels good in my hand, allows me to customize ink colors for sketching, and is simply the coolest tool in my kit. Double trouble because I loved my first one so much I ordered a second--one for black ink, one for gray or a fun color. It is an investment--it took me a while to commit, but extremely pleased with the purchase and its performance.
I got my Lumos about a month ago as a birthday present, and immediately ordered the full tip set so i could try them out. I still haven’t used all of them, but I love the whole idea — the mechanism is so clever and easy to use, making this a truly versatile tool that is fun to work with. No matter which tip you use, the pen flows easily and the line is dark. So far I like the fine line tips the best, mostly because I prefer to draw with a finer brush than the brush tip in the set — in fact, if I have one complaint, it’s that there is only one brush tip, and it’s a medium width. I use brush pens a lot, and I’d love a set of three, with fine and extra fine options. I don’t use felt tips a lot but this one is great, smooth, subtle or bold as you prefer, easy to wield. I’m not sure my Lumos will replace every single one of my favorite disposable pens, but it will definitely replace quite a few.
Having come to the Lumos via disposables and a distant past of Rapidographs, I am well impressed by the simplicity of this design. It is easy to fill, easy to change out the nibs and so satisfying to use. I only wish I’d bought the duo tip as I often use thick and thin line to make my drawings pop off the page. Replacement tips are nicely priced and the whole system is more Earth friendly than the disposables. I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying these pens.
The lumos was the 4th of Tom’s pens but for everyday use not calligraphy. I love the filling system so easy to just place the insert into a bottle of ink and let it fill by capillary action. Just wish all pens could be filled this way. I love the fact
I have one pen but two colours available. Makes it so easy to carry and is great as I normally work in the pharmaceutical industry and almost all Documentation is filled out in black and red ink. The only thing I would like to see is another brass end cap as although the end is sealed it does attract debris from my handbag and in my opinion would just be the final piece to improve what is a brilliant pen. The set of all the nibs was great as you can find the right tip and then just buy a 3 pack of your preferred nib. My set contained 9 nibs but I now think the pack contains 11 different nibs.
I bought another one Lumos Pro for a gift to a friend
so that he would stop taking mine every time we go on our drawing trips up to the Oregon Coast. It’s simply magnificent. When you have a Lumos you do not need any other pen. Highly recommended. nuria
I really love the lumos. It is so high quality- and feels like it looks. To write and letter with it (no matter if fine oder brush) feels really perfect, since it lays wonderful in your hand. I'm happy to start a new lettering adventure with my lumos! 🥳👏🏼
We write a lot at work - notes for all our customers, list, reminders - and we do not like throwing things away. I bought two pens, one for me and one for my colleague. We were ridiculously delighted watching the reservoirs fill up, and then seeing the ink flow to the tip of the "nib". I got the double ended one and filled my thick end with Lavender and the thin end with Espresso from Diamine. Amy went with your black ink because it was handy. Thanks for including it. We are both very happy with the results. I carry mine around with me because I'm that fond of it.
This is such a pleasurable pen to write with. It writes so smoothly and reliably. I am not an accomplished writer and am hopeless a t drawing but the Lumos just makes me want to take a break, sit down and contentedly doodle; for hours if possible! I am left handed and the Lumos presents no difficulties for me at all - just easeful scribbling delight.
Wonderful pen with replaceable nibs of all sorts!
NO MORE RUBBISH PENS...
9 Billion Pens are thrown away each year...
Too many pens and their refills are disposable by design. Similar to printer ink cartridges, pen companies want you to buy into their format so that they can keep selling you replacement pens or refills over and over again. It's good for their business but it's bad for the planet and stifles creativity.
As a product designer and craftsman who loves using a variety of pens to create illustrations and designs I had this very problem! Pens would sit in my drawer for years, either patiently waiting for that very specific refill or I was just loathed to dispose of an otherwise fully functional pen that had run out of ink.
Having designed and handmade calligraphy and fountain pens for creative folks across the world fulltime for over 6years I decided it was time to apply my knowledge to the pen I used most of all and one of the biggest culprits when it came its disposable nature, the fineliner.
Read my in-depth article about the specifics of the problem and my solutions.

As a designer, I am always reaching for at least two pens to highlight or add details in different styles to my work. Different pen styles offer different functions, whether that's accentuating a details in a drawing, changing between line weights, or just doodling for the fun of it I wanted to create a pen that you could use for a variety of tasks and that you could truly customise to the way you work.

TIP TOP TIPS
Japan is where the best technical pens are made. I was never going to be able design anything that came close to the precision and decades of perfectionism of a Japanese made nib. So I designed the Lumos around them, with 9 sizes and types you are sure to find the ones to perfectly suit your style.
Pairing these two materials isn't just an aesthetic choice. Where strength and durability is needed, I've used stainless steel and where lightness and tactility is paramount I've used Aluminium. The Lumos shows off the best attributes of these materials and gives you a solid and balance writing experience.
Made from Titanium Nitride coated 304 stainless steel and fine bead blasted aircraft grade anodised aluminium The Lumos offers the perfect balance of 'chuck it in your bag' durability with the finesse of beautifully finished materials.
LESS IS MORE WITH MORE
As a professional designer, "Less is more" was drummed into me as a student and it's a design principle I still live by. For me when design becomes poetry is when you can do the most with the least parts. I'm confident that the Lumos is that little bit of minimalist creative magic you've been looking for.
