Posted by Tom Gyr on

Edward is an incredibly gifted leatherworker. His attention to detail and knowledge is honestly breath taking. He is also one of those people where no design idea is too 'out there' which has made working with him an absolute joy.  Here's more about Edward and his process.
CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND TELL US WHAT YOU DO?
I’m Edward de Lacy and I design and hand make leather goods
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN MAKING AND WHAT GOT YOU INTO LEATHER MAKING?
I have made leather goods mainly bags since 2003 and started my brand(s) in 2005 after studying fine art, I kinda fell into this as a career.

HOW/WHERE DID YOU DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS?
I am self taught and I am always learning new skills.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Conceptual & minimalist art and sculpture from the 60’s onwards. Music and the leathers I work with

WHAT’S THE PIECE YOU'RE MOST PROUD OF?
The skinny pencil case - really simple slick and minimalist, perfect partner for that special pen, ruler and pencil.

WHAT DOES CRAFT & HANDMADE MEAN TO YOU?
High quality craftsmanship and locally sourced materials and a low carbon footprint. And above all something unique that not everyone will own.
