Wren - Take Flight & Write

A beautiful and infinitely refillable writing pen, equipped with a Japanese-made writing tip. We're on a mission to make choosing refillable options easier, so you can now buy two (or more!) Wren pens and save 10%

Each year, an estimated 9 billion pens are thrown away, contributing to growing environmental waste. Many writing tools are designed with convenience in mind, often leading to a cycle of frequent replacements, which generates significant waste and limits options for those seeking more sustainable, long-lasting choices.

As a product designer and craftsman who loves writing, I became frustrated with the waste created by disposable pens. They would pile up in drawers, waiting for a specific refill, or worse, end up in the bin despite being perfectly usable – if only they had ink.

After years of designing and handcrafting calligraphy and fountain pens for creatives worldwide, I decided it was time to tackle one of the biggest culprits: the everyday writing pen. The result? The Wren – a pen designed not only to write beautifully but also to last a lifetime, helping to reduce the mountains of waste created by disposable pens.

Full FAQs and a video guide to getting started with your Wren can be found here.

What ink can I use?

The Wren is compatible with all but the most experimental fountain pen inks (think shimmer + iridescent). We offer a beautiful range of ink for fountain pens, which are perfect for the Wren and can be found here.

Note: Calligraphy Ink has an acrylic binder which will block the pen and is not suitable for use with the Wren.

Some ink colours can concentrate in the tip, so you may experience a lighter colour after a line or two. This is completely normal and looks quite nice!

How do I store the reservoir and tips?
You can store reservoirs and tips, and change to a different colour using spare reservoirs and my reservoir storage containers.

How long will the tips/ink last?
You can expect the high-quality, Japanese-made tip to last for months of use. We tested a single ink fill in the Wren on a plotter – a device used for precision drawing – and it wrote consistently for 344 metres. That's the equivalent of 50 A4 pages of handwriting!

When the tip eventually dulls, you can find packs of three replacement tips here.

Anything else I should know?
Yes! I’ve designed the pen to include ‘micro-grooves’, tiny ridges that enhance grip without using plastics. Please note: the black and midnight colourways do not feature these micro-grooves, as they have a grippy matte finish.

Gorgeous

I’ve bought two wrens now one for a gift and then I had to buy one for myself! They are beautifully made, they have a gorgeous weight to them and best of all you can really show your own personality in your writing with different coloured inks not to mention your saving the planet!! Love love love!!

What a gem

The Wren is an absolute delight to write and letter with. The weight and balance feel lovely in the hand and I love the tip that it comes with.

Beautiful in the hand and on the page

I love my wren so much I own two now! They feel special yet comfortable in my hand when I write and they write beautifully. I'm away for work next week and love knowing I can take my favourite pen with me without it leaking on the plane.
The only drawback is that it is slightly fiddly to pull apart to use - the end is a touch short - BUT it holds firmly when closed or set up for using.
I also bought some Tom's Studio ink and LOVE how it writes - such a joy as a leftie to write with a beautiful pen and not smudge.
I'd love them in every colour!

Absolutely beautiful pen

I first bought the Lumos duo and within days of receiving it I bought the Wren. It is also an amazing pen - well
made and absolutely lovely to use, in a compact form to carry.
