A special edition, precision-engineered Lumos in stainless steel.

I’ve crafted approximately 4,000 pens by hand on my marvellous 1960s Myford Super 7 engineering lathe, and the phrase "they don’t make 'em like they used to" certainly rings true for this special bit of machinery.

About the Lumos Stainless Steel

The stainless steel Lumos embodies the same philosophy of creating something to last a lifetime. It pays homage to time-honoured techniques and machinery with its unique diagonally knurled cap, smooth and precise body finish, incredibly hard-to-machine triple start threads (which mean the cap unscrews three times as fast), and, of course, being made from the most enduring of materials, stainless steel.

I’m sure my Lumos and lathe will be hanging out together for generations to come, reminiscing about the good old days.

Note: As it is made from stainless steel, you’ll notice that this special edition Lumos has a reassuring weight in the hand – a feature many of our customers love. Please be aware that this pen weighs more than it's standard Lumos counterparts, offering a unique and satisfying writing experience.

      What ink can I use?

      The Lumos is compatible with dye-based Fountain Pen Inks, so long as they don’t contain particles (such as shimmer inks) or binders (like acrylic or shellac).

      Exception to the rule? We sell a splendid waterproof pigment ink: Sailor Kiwa-Guro.

      I already own the classic Lumos, but the new stainless steel version truly impresses me on a whole new level. It feels premium and elegant, and its weight gives it a solid, well-balanced presence in the hand. I also feel the rubber rings make a real difference — the pen doesn’t dry out as quickly, something I experienced more often with the standard version. As a hobby artist, this pen is an outstanding tool for me — stylish, reliable, and a genuine source of creative inspiration.

      Fantastic Pen!

      This is a beautiful pen both in aesthetics and function. The fit and finish of the pen if flawless and the stainless steel feels great in the hand, just weighty enough to be comfortable and it is easy to grip. The weighting performance is on par with all the pens I have used from Tom’s studio, smooth and excellent ink flow. I shall enjoy using this pen for many years!
