A little dreamboat of a pen... I wanted to create a calligraphy pen that would feel like a fantastic experience every time you use it. Its design has been methodically planned to be the best of both form and function. Feeling wonderful in the hand it's contoured body fits snuggly in the hand whilst giving you the perfect balance to write smoothly and precisely.

The Flourish is precision machined from a solid Aluminium bar meaning that it will last a lifetime and give you just the right amount of weight without feeling too heavy.

Each pen is fitted with a stainless steel ferrule (the part that the nib goes into). These are 10X better and longer lasting than the original chrome style and can be replaced easily if they wear out (generally after years of use if cleaned properly). The ferrule also fits all nibs big or small for effortless calligraphy in a jiffy.

I'm really proud of these pens and I hope you love using yours as much as I enjoyed creating them!

Trying hard to find something...

I really really like it a lot. If I were to try to find something wrong with it, I would say it's a tad slippery to the hand. Beyond that, the adjustments, the weight, the looks... a solid A.

I love my Flourish

I chose the beautiful iris oblique pen to use for Copperplate. Once I figured out how to put it together--didn't notice the tiny crank at first--I discovered a wonderful pen. There's a nice balance and the pen is smooth to the touch. Very nice for a small hand. It was (one of) my early Christmas presents to me. I'm enjoying practicing my calligraphy from The Calligraphy Box with my gorgeous pen. Sassy Ginger Maeve is one of my fur blotters.

Impeccable construction...

But right now, it's not my favorite. It has weight and feels good in the hand. The nib mount is brilliant because you don't need more than one holder for multiple nibs - it's a quick-change artist. But there's one thing wrong with it - you can't turn the nib on an axis like bending a flange. You can move it in and out, you can move it up and down, but the profile of the nib is always flat in a normal writing position. If you want the nib off-axis you need to rotate the pen and the weight of the brass mount makes it unbalanced - it doesn't feel right, and the nib writes differently. I picked up this bad habit by using a straight holder and pointing the reservoir at 55 degrees to get those baby-fine hairlines. If you don't write off-axis, this thing is a dream, and with practice, I'm sure I will adapt to it. It's still worth the investment, and a superb writing tool.

First impressions mean a lot.

I am new to fountain pens and ink. I decided to splurge and buy a set of Tom’s studio inks and have them shipped to the USA. They arrived last night. Everything about this transaction has been smooth. Opened the box. It is packed with love. There is a separator between the products (ink) and the greeting card and a small surprise. I will not ruin the surprise. It’s been a rough week and this really made a difference. If you are on the fence, give them a shot. I’m genuinely excited to start writing this weekend.

Wow !

I recently received my new pen and as someone who’s returned to calligraphy after years of not practicing, all I can say about this pen is wow ! I have been given glass dip pens before and I have never liked them as they are scratchy and hard to get ink flow right, no sure issues with this one, beautifully boxed with clear instructions on the wrap around the box and then you open the box to amazing packaging so I don’t have to worry about where to store my brilliant pen when not is use. Thank you Tom for a long awaited return to the art of calligraphy.
