A warmer, deeper version of raw umber, created through heat. This rich brown adds warmth and contrast, making it useful for shadows, darker areas and adding definition without overwhelming other colours.
We set out to turn the tide on waste by designing half pans made from ghost nets – discarded fishing gear collected off the Cornish coast that would otherwise pollute our seas. No virgin plastics here. Each pan is hand filled in our Somerset studio with richly pigmented, artist-grade watercolour paint, mixed with a traditional binder of gum arabic and honey.
Each colour has its own quirks, and the studio team has spent time getting to know the temperament of every pigment. Every half pan is poured slowly, in layers, to build depth and consistency, resulting in paint that wets beautifully, mixes cleanly and flows smoothly on the page.
