Black & Gold takes our much-loved solid brass Wren and adds a splash of black with a lasered finish (completed by our talented studio team here in Somerset!)

It’s a finish that references last year’s Black & Gold pen – inspired by Tom’s early designs, when every experiment in the workshop became a new idea worth sharing. Each is crafted in small, limited edition batches, designed to be treasured for years, and a quiet reminder that even the most refined tools begin life with a little creative chaos.

  • Japanese-made Writing Tip (0.3–0.5 depending on pressure)
  • 3ml Midnight Ink sample

What ink can I use?

The Wren is compatible with all standard Fountain Pen Inks. Please note the Wren is not suitable for use with our Shimmer Fountain Pen Inks or Calligraphy Inks.

Anything else I should know?

Over time the brass will naturally develop its own unique patina. Brass requires some extra upkeep to keep it nice and shiny! Please see our brass care video here.

The story

A little creative chaos

Each piece carries a hand-applied gold splash that calls back to the early days in the workshop, when Tom first hand-splattered a few Studio Fountain Pens (because, why not!). They sold out instantly and became a bit of a studio legend. Every pen is a little different, made in small batches and designed to last a lifetime.
