Lumos - Tips (pack of 3)

Japanese made, replacement tips for your Lumos

Japanese made fibre, writing and brush tips for your Lumos Pen.

0.1 tip = 0.4mm
0.2 tip = 0.5mm
0.3 tip = 0.8mm
0.5 tip = 1mm
0.8 tip = 1.2mm
1.0 tip = 1.4mm

See how to replace the tips below:

- Nib sizes are different depending on the manufacturer (Eg Sakura, Staedler) If anything ours are on the smaller side so it might be worth getting the size down from your preferred choice as well.

- All nibs will work with all but the most experimental fountain pen inks. I've tried a LOT and haven't found one that doesn't work well. Experiment and find the inks that work best for you!

- I recommend Sailor Kiwa-guro ink if you would like to use a waterproof archival pigment ink.  50ml will last you for years!  Avoid using pigment in the brush, chisel and felt tip as it will clog.

- If in doubt use ink designed for fountain pens or make sure that it's dye based. Indian, acrylic and gouache based inks will clog the pen.  At least everything is replaceable if this does happen!

Writing Nibs Don’t Hold Up

I love being able to write with a mono-line. Daily journaling, calendar, day planner, you name it. I was so excited about being able to use the lumos and waterproof ink. I like a 0.2 - 0.3 line but I knew I wouldn’t be able to expect that the actual fine liners to not bend with heavier use, so I was so excited about the 0.3 writing nib which to me implied it was designed for writing. After one page of quick writing in a moleskine cahier (about A4 size) the nib was worn down and no longer held a point. I tried with a second one to have the same end result.

I have searched far and wide for a pen that won’t smudge on Leuchtterm paper with a zebra mildliner highlighter. Both the sketch ink and Tom’s new waterproof black ink do that so well. So I’ve moved over to a fountain pen because of that. But it certainly comes with its own unique set of drawbacks.

Love them so easy to change and what a great quality !
