As you may know, I designed the Lumos as an answer to disposable pens. One of the biggest culprits is the humble biro, of which the unfathomable number of 100 Billion now reside in landfill!

As standard all Lumos Minis now come with all 11 tips. It's perfect for writing as well as illustration and adds extra touch of joy to your creative process.
The mini Lumos pen is compatible with 11 professional interchangeable tips, crafted by specialists in Japan. These tips include fineliners, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 0.8, and 1.0, as well as 2mm chisel, bullet, and brush felt-tips. Whether you're working on intricate details or bold strokes, there's a tip to suit every artistic need.
Engraving your lumos
- You can now personalise your Lumos with up text to 21 character and we will engrave it in the studio before we pop it in the post.
- Select 'Yes please' on the product options and enter your text, you can see it previewed on the product image.
- There are 4 fonts to choose from
- Please check your engraving carefully before you order, once a pen has been personalised we cannot accept it as a return.
- We need an extra day to engrave your pen, but we will do what we can to get it out as soon as possible once you order.

What ink can I use?
- All nibs will work with all but the most experimental fountain pen inks (think shimmer + iridescent). I've tried a LOT and I'm yet to find one that doesn't work well. I'd encourage you to experiment and find the inks that work best for you!

What are the differences between the Duo and the Single Lumos?
The Duo Lumos allows you to have two different pens in one body, allowing you to easily change between nibs and ink colours on either side.
The Single Lumos has one tip and one ink reservoir which is double the Duo's reservoir size.
What's the difference between the Lumos and other refillable technical pens? (E.g. Rotring Isograph and Copic Multiliner).

Too many pens and their refills are disposable by design. As a product designer and craftsman who loves using a variety of pens to create illustrations and designs, I had this very problem! Pens would sit in my drawer for years, either patiently waiting for that very specific refill, or I was just loathed to dispose of an otherwise fully functional pen that had run out of ink.
Having designed and handmade calligraphy and fountain pens for creative folks across the world full time for over 6 years, I decided it was time to apply my knowledge to the pen I used most of all and one of the biggest culprits when it came its disposable nature: the fineliner.
- The Lumos - Refillable Fineliner Pen comes with a 9 artists tips and 2 writing tips and you can also buy replacements in packs of 3 here: Lumos tips. Or the full tip set here
- A reusable cotton core reservoir for each nib, spares available here: Lumos reservoirs. The longer version doens't fit this pen
- The pen includes a Tom's Studio - Deep Black Ink (not waterproof) 5ml bottle of ink. More colours are available here: Fountain pen ink as well as waterproof pigment inks . Calligraphy Inks are not compatible (find out more in FAQs below).
- Precision CNC machined from solid aluminium, PVD coated stainless steel (the same as high end watch parts) and an enginnering grade polymer that seals and prevent corrosion. This pen has been designed to last a lifetime of use.
- The Lumos Mini weighs 11.5g and is 10mm in diameter

An antidote to waste
After finding out that 100 Billion ballpoint pens from a certain pen brand had been made and in turn disposed of, I felt compelled to design a better alternative.

Great little pen! Tracks ink nicely. Using it with Iroshizuku Yama budo fountain pen ink.
I already have a full sized Lumos Pronwhich I use on an almost daily basis. I don’t usually splash out on art materials but the pen is so wonderful I wanted a smaller version to carry around when I’m out and about. I’ve found that the Lumos mini is the ideal pen for this sort of ad hoc/plein air sketching. Wonderful communication with Tom and Gemma throughout. Thoroughly recommended!
This really is a delightful pen and I love that I can change out the nibs to different styles. The only downside for me, and really only half a star deduction, to be fair, is that it could have been maybe 10mm or so longer. For me, it feels a little awkward at its present length. I even put short pencils in a holder for better balance.
That said, I will certainly become used to it because I use it so often.
Next time I might buy the duo, for the extra length and multi-tip capability.
I love fine line pens and like many, am trying to cut back on plastic waste. I got a lumos mini on a whim and now feel I cannot do without it. It writes beautifully, feels great in my hand, and the ink lasts a surprisingly long time between refills, Based on how long the ink lasts, this pen is a bargain. It goes everywhere with me.
