When your nib arrives you will need to prepare it by one of the following methods: dip in nib cleaning fluid and wipe, submerge in boiling water for a few seconds, dip in your ink, wipe and repeat.

Safe introduction
As an absolute beginner to pointed pen calligraphy, I ordered one each of five different nibs. Although the other four all had positive qualities, this was the one I kept going back to with confidence.
