The Gillott 303 is a flexible, sharply pointed nib which produces fine, elegant hairlines.

Commonly used for Copperplate, but also great for Modern Calligraphy styles.

This nib can be used with all our pen holders.

When your nib arrives you will need to prepare it by one of the following methods: dip in nib cleaning fluid and wipe, submerge in boiling water for a few seconds, dip in your ink, wipe and repeat.

One of my flexiest favourites

I ordered a selection of nibs to find which suited me best, and found the Gillott 303 the best for my purposes. I use Rhodia Webnotebook paper and Montblanc or Diamine inks for everyday writing, and think that this nib performs very well. It is super soft, so if I don't keep a very light stroke it will get stuck in the paper, but I just love the fine lines, the flex and the smooth writing when I'm doing it right! It took some time to get used to it, but I now like it even more than the Leonard EF Principal, which is making lots of scratching sounds (even my family notices the difference at a distance). I'll get some more of this for my next order!

Not what I expected.

I've prepared this nib, and it holds ink well.
It's not the easiest nib to control, and parts of it, other than the point, are very sharp - which makes me think that some quality control is lacking in the manufacturing process.
I thought I'd try the 303 as many others like it, but my first experience has been a disappointing one because of the point catching the paper and opening the tines too much during flourishes - I'll try a few different papers, but I won't hold my breath.
I think that I may stick to the Brause Steno.

I'm so sorry you're not getting on with this nib. We'd be more than happy to replace it for you as it should write very smoothly.
