Custom Studio Pens

Designed To Be As Unique As You

After discovering that around 1.6 billion disposable pens are thrown away each year in the US alone, Tom spent the last few years perfecting the 'Studio Pen'. Handmade and engineered to accept a variety of different pen styles including fountain pen, brush, rollerball, fine-liner and felt tip, it is designed to be the only writing and drawing pen you’ll ever need to own.

“It’s my hope that by owning a beautifully made and versatile pen which lasts a lifetime, we can greatly reduce the number of pens that are thrown into landfill each year.”

The Principles Behind The Pen

PRECISION + CRAFTSMANSHIP

Tom uses a blend of traditional craft techniques and hand-finishing with state of the art manufacture. Using precision CNC lathes (that, amongst other things, are typically used to turn components for the aerospace industry) he is able to make to make highly functional and precise writing instruments which retain the ‘soul’ that can only be achieved by a true Craftsman.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

The majority of the materials Tom uses are manufacturing by-products, sustainable native timbers or hand-cast eco-resins. It’s incredibly important to him to create as little waste as possible whilst making products that are dependably long lasting.

USER EXPERIENCE

There’s an unmistakable feel and reassuring weight to solid machined metals like brass and stainless steel. However, it’s paramount that the pen is perfectly balanced in the hand. The nib should feel weightless on the page with the centre of gravity resting between the thumb and forefinger. It’s these details that make Tom’s products loved by some of the most celebrated calligraphers, designers and retailers in the world.
