ABOUT THE CARROT

The body of the Carrot is crafted from anodised aluminium, and it features a brass flange.

Length – 125mm

Weight – 35g

The reassuring weight and the shape of the Carrot mean you barely have to hold the pen when writing – it does much of the work for you. This helps you avoid the dreaded 'calligrapher claw' and improve your technique over time.

Absolutely! You can flip the flange around to the other side of the pen.
To adjust the angle:

  • Insert the allen key into the small screw at the top of the pen and loosen it by turning anti-clockwise.
  • Pinch the nib and adjust to your desired angle.
  • Tighten the screw with the allen key to set it in place.

ALL ABOUT INKS

The Carrot is compatible with all inks, but we particularly recommend our Calligraphy Inks. They are durable, dense when dried, and completely water-resistant, making them a fantastic choice for your writing and creative projects.

ALL ABOUT NIBS

Calligraphy nibs are sold separately, and we offer a great selection of them here. If you have questions about the compatibility of a specific calligraphy nib that we don't stock, please get in touch – we'd be happy to assist.

Absolutely! The Carrot is designed to hold most calligraphy nibs in a variety of sizes, accommodating nearly all but the most specialised nibs.

  1. Twist the brass nut away from you to loosen it.
  2. Insert your preferred nib, making sure it touches the brass beneath and to the right of it (to the left for left-handed users).
  3. Tighten the nut by twisting it towards you until it loosely holds the nib.
  4. Remove the nib and turn the nut a little more before reinserting the nib. Repeat until you have a snug fit.

You can find a visual guide here and a video guide here.

Simply use your thumb to push on the back end of the nib until it pops out. There’s no need to unscrew the nut. If the nib is particularly snug, use a soft cloth or a piece of card to push the nib out of the brass flange.

Adjust the angle of the nib to suit your writing style perfectly. Once you’ve set the correct angle, the nib will glide smoothly across the page.

  1. Insert the allen key into the small screw at the top of the pen and loosen it by turning anti-clockwise.
  2. Pinch the nib and adjust to your desired angle.
  3. Tighten the screw with the allen key to set it in place.

You can find a video on how to do this here.

CARING FOR YOUR CARROT

Regular cleaning with warm soapy water will keep the body of your Carrot in great condition. Be sure to dry all parts thoroughly to maintain its longevity.

To keep your nibs in perfect working order and prevent rusting, rinse them after each use. You can use water or our Nib Cleaning Solution for stubborn ink. Gently dry them with a soft cloth and let them air dry before storing.

We recommend storing the Carrot in the pen box it came in to keep it safe and secure when not in use.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Not to worry! First, remove the nib and nib-holding device from your pen and soak them in nib cleaning solution or soapy water to help remove the rust.

If the rust remains, you can find new calligraphy nibs in our range.
