The Pro-Flex nib is a professional-grade titanium Zebra G with a super fine point, offering fantastic results (it flexes from hairline to 2mm) but requires a light touch, which comes from many hours of practice with a more straightforward calligraphy pen. For this reason, we recommend the Pro-Flex for experienced calligraphers only.

This nib also features a new ink delivery system, the feed, which is designed to stay in contact with the nib. It achieves this through an integrated 'leaf spring', allowing the feed to flex when the nib does. Most flex pens fail when the feed loses contact with the nib, but this innovation ensures a consistent ink flow. This clever feature also acts as a 'sump', storing excess ink and releasing it as needed when the nib requires it.

If you're a fountain pen user looking to add a touch of flair to your writing, we suggest starting with the Semi-Flex or Titanium Flex nibs. These options will help you develop the necessary understanding and muscle memory before advancing to the Pro-Flex.

Made to work in all of my fountain pens, the housing is a Bock 250 size 6, which is common to many lovely tools.

Most fountain pen nibs are made from stainless steel, which is highly resistant to corrosion but is also extremely hard. Calligraphy nibs, on the other hand, are made from softer, springier alloys that allow them to flex with very little pressure. The trade-off is that these alloys corrode over time. However, the titanium coating protects the nib and makes it last up to six times longer than a standard nib. Once your nib eventually wears out, you can remove it with pliers and replace it with a new one.

This is a very juicy nib, which is amazing for performance but can occasionally cause the nib to leak when you don't intend it to. If this happens, just remove the cartridge or converter before travelling or storing.

A very frustrating feature of eye-dropper pens is that they sometimes suffer from 'ink burping' (very unpleasant!). This is a mystery that even the greatest minds are still trying to decipher, but it can mean that ink-hungry nibs like the pro-flex can be affected by inconsistent ink flow. If this happens, it may be worth reverting to an ink cartridge or converter.

Amazing

Okay look, if you know about flex nibs then you know that writing with them is always going to have some challenges regarding ink flow and paper. If you get the other two thinks right then you'll appreciate this nib. Personally I'd never used a Zebra GF nib

I recommend adding a pinprick of dish soap (literally a pin prick) to your ink, inside the cartridge not the bottle! It helps a lot with ink flow though you will need to wash the pen out from time to time.

Pro-Flex (Zebra G) nib unit for sketching

The Pro-Flex unit fits perfectly into a Asvine v200 vacuum filler with no need for adjustment. I have other Zebra G nib fountain pens which all seem to suffer from ink flow, trying to keep up with the thirsty Zebra G nib, but Tom’s Pro-Flex on the Asvine pen just keeps on giving and doesn’t tend to railroad either.

I love it

So I bought the nib unit to test it out. Cuz I ve heard good things about it. I didn’t have a fountain pen yet, so I used my dip pen holder as shown in the picture.
The sample writing was done with this setup (dip pen). I love it. I have now ordered a fountain pen to hold it and it will arrive this week.

This Proflex nib is so far exactly what I wanted. My favourite Zebra G nib in a fountain pen. The ink flow has been excellent with this feed with no railroading. This has made practicing calligraphy a lot easier when you don’t want to set up the dip pen kit. Highly recommended.
